Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Dwayne Evans set a new career-high with 24 points
to push the Saint Louis Billikens to a 90-73 rout of the Fordham Rams in an
Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at Rose Hill Gym.
Cody Ellis also tallied a career-high of 22 points for Saint Louis (17-5, 6-2
A-10) as it notched its fifth win in a row. Evans also collected 10 boards for
his first double-double of the season, Jordair Jett added 14 points, Grandy
Glaze scored 10 points, and Mike McCall Jr. dished out six assists.
Mandell Thomas led Fordham (6-17, 2-6) with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from
the floor. Travion Leonard scored 12 points while Branden Frazier contributed
11 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. The loss was the third in a row
for the Rams.
The Billikens shot 55.2 percent from the floor and outscored Fordham, 27-10,
in bench points in the first half en route to a 40-33 halftime lead. The hosts
trailed at the break despite outrebounding Saint Louis, 19-14, in the opening
stanza.
Saint Louis went 17-of-29 from the field and converted 15-of-19 at the charity
stripe over the final 20 minutes to extend its lead by 10 points. The Rams
were unable to mount a comeback even though they hit 50 percent of their field
goal attempts in the second half.
Fordham was guilty of 12 turnovers that the visitors converted into 17 points.
Saint Louis assisted 20 of its 33 makes from the floor to score 90 points in
an Atlantic 10 contest for the first time in school history.
