Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Chad Rasmussen scored 13 points as he helped
guide the Seattle Redhawks to a 61-44 win over the Mavericks of Texas-
Arlington in Western Athletic Conference action at College Park Center.
Also scoring in double figures for Seattle (6-10, 1-5 WAC), as the team
snapped a five-game slide, were Prince Obasi and Jarell Flora with 12 and 10
points, respectively.
The Mavericks (8-7, 3-3) were paced by Greg Gainey who tallied 13 points in 21
minutes off the bench. Jordan Reves cleared 11 rebounds, but failed to convert
a single field goal attempt as the hosts had a two-game win streak snapped.
Seattle scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting
53.8 percent from the floor, including 7-of-16 behind the 3-point line in the
first half in order to take a 36-20 advantage at the break. UTA shot just 1-
of-12 on the perimeter in the frame.
The Mavericks went from shooting only 23.3 percent from the field in the first
half to 28.1 percent in the second period, which included a mere 1-of-11
effort on the outside.
The Redhawks were guilty of 22 turnovers and shot just 1-of-7 at the free-
throw line, but thanks to a defense that clamped down on the home team those
weak efforts were easily overcome.
