Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Sim Bhullar and K.C. Ross-Miller each scored 16
points as the New Mexico State Aggies survived a late comeback attempt by the
Idaho Vandals to capture a 71-70 win in Western Athletic Conference action at
the Cowan Spectrum.
Bandja Sy added 14 points and seven rebounds for NMSU (10-8, 4-2 WAC), which
has won four games in a row.
For Idaho State (6-9, 2-3), Kyle Barone tallied a double-double with 18 points
and 10 rebounds, while Connor Hill scored 17 points. Robert Harris and Stephen
Madison both netted 11 points for the Vandals, who have lost three straight.
Behind 50 percent field goal shooting in the first half, NMSU opened up a
comfortable 42-27 lead at intermission.
Idaho got hot after the break, making 60 percent of its field goal attempts as
it gradually chipped away at the lead. Down by two with four seconds
remaining, the Vandals tied the game with a pair of Barone free throws, but
Daniel Mullings drew a foul and drained 1-of-2 at the line on the other end,
which was enough for the Aggies to salvage the win.
While Idaho turned the ball over just 11 times, those miscues turned into 15
NMSU points. The Aggies coughed it up only four times all night.
