Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Travis McKie scored 19 points for Wake
Forest as the Demon Deacons defeated the Xavier Musketeers, 66-59, in the Skip
Prosser Classic at Joel Coliseum.
Although McKie was just 5-of-15 from the field, he shot 7-of-9 from the free
throw line while also tallying eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Codi Miller-McIntyre recorded 16 points and C.J. Harris added 15 for Wake
Forest (7-5), which has now won three in a row and four of its last
five. Devin Thomas dominated the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds.
Travis Taylor recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds as
Xavier (7-6) suffered its fourth consecutive loss. Despite shooting only 3-
of-11 from the field, Semaj Christon added 14 points. Jeff Robinson scored 10
points off the bench.
The Demon Deacons led 31-26 at the break after making good on 5-of-11 3-point
attempts. Xavier was without a 3-pointer in the first half.
In the second half, the Musketeers connected on just 36.4 percent of their
shots from the field as Wake Forest held on for the seven-point win
Xavier was plagued by a game-high 20 turnovers, which Wake Forest turned into
29 points.
