Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Miles Dixon tallied a game-high 21 points off
the bench to guide the Wright State Raiders to a 67-59 victory over the Miami-
Ohio RedHawks in a non-conference bout at the Nutter Center.
Jerran Young added 19 points and six rebounds for Wright State (8-3) as it
earned its third consecutive win. Tavares Sledge grabbed a game-high total of
nine rebounds.
Miami (3-6) lost its fourth in a row despite a 16-point performance by Allen
Roberts. Jon Harris chipped in 10 points as he and Quinten Rollins pulled down
six boards each.
Both teams got off to a slow start. After trailing by seven points, the
RedHawks closed the opening half on a 10-3 run to send the game into halftime
knotted up at 21. Wright State converted just 28.6 percent of its field goal
attempts while the visitors shot 34.8 percent from the floor before the break.
Matt Vest made a layup in the opening minute of the second period to put the
Raiders back on top and they managed to stay in front the rest of the way.
Wright Stated scored 20 points off of turnovers and drained 27-of-33 attempts
at the charity stripe in the second half. Miami fell behind despite knocking
down 50 percent of its field goal tries in the final 20 minutes.
Wright State enjoyed a 42-27 advantage in the rebounding battle and received
45 points from its reserves. Miami went 11-of-21 at the free throw line in the
contest.
