Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Tyrus McGee made six three-pointers off the
bench en route to 20 points to lead the Iowa State Cyclones to a 76-61 win
over the UMKC Kangaroos at Municipal Auditorium.
McGee also had a career-high five assists and has drained at least one three-
pointer in every game this season for ISU (9-3). Chris Babb scored 12 points
while Korie Lucious added 11 points and eight assists. Anthony Booker scored
11 points off the bench while Georges Niang grabbed a team-high eight boards.
Tyler Estan submitted a strong performance for the Kangaroos (4-7) with 17
points and four assists. Nate Rogers hit 4-of-7 from behind the arc and scored
13 points while Thomas Staton hit both of his three-point attempts for 12
points off the bench. Nelson Kirksey netted 11 points.
UMKC jumped out to an 8-2 lead before ISU took control midway through the
first half. Iowa State led 30-29 at intermission despite allowing Tyler to net
13 first half points. The Cyclones controlled the glass in the opening 20
minutes, grabbing 17 rebounds while allowing UMKC just nine.
Iowa State trailed by four early in the second half when McGee started
knocking down shots. Five of his six three-pointers came after halftime as the
Cyclones pulled away late.
ISU recorded a season-high 24 assists has now scored at least 70 points in all
12 games this season.
