Ogden, UT (Sports Network) - Kyle Tresnak finished with a game-high 16 points
as the Weber State Wildcats coasted to a 65-51 victory over the UC Irvine
Anteaters in a non-conference tilt at the Dee Events Center.
Frank Otis added 13 points for Weber State (4-2) as it picked up its third win
in a row. Scott Bamforth scored 11 points and Joel Bolomboy made an interior
impact with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Daman Starring netted 15 points for UC Irvine (4-6). The Anteaters have lost
in five of their last six outings.
Weber State overcame an early four-point deficit and took its first lead four
minutes after tip-off. Despite converting only 7-of-17 attempts at the free
throw line, the Wildcats managed to take a 33-26 advantage into the
intermission. UC Irvine made only 7-of-22 shots from the field in the opening
20 minutes.
The Anteaters outscored the hosts, 18-10, in the paint in the second half, but
the Wildcats' lead was never in jeopardy.
Weber State had a poor shooting night as it finished 2-of-12 from three-point
range and missed 14 free throws. UC Irvine shot 34.6 percent from the field in
its loss.
