Provo, UT (Sports Network) - Brandon Davies tallied 28 points and nine
rebounds as the BYU Cougars made easy work of the Georgia State Panthers,
winning 80-62 at the Marriott Center as apart of the Coaches vs. Cancer
Classic.
Davies shot 10-of-14 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line for
BYU (2-0) while also adding three blocks and two steals. Tyler Haws stuffed
the stat sheet with 22 points, seven boards, and five assists. Matt Carlino
added 11 points, seven dimes, and four steals.
For Georgia State (0-2), Manny Atkins put up 21 points and eight rebounds.
Devonta White scored 14 points, and R.J. Hunter chipped in with 12.
BYU shot lights out in the first half, connecting on 18-of-31 field goals, to
get up to a comfortable 44-26 halftime lead.
Georgia State improved its shooting from 26.5 percent in the first half to
45.2 percent in the second half, but it never threatened the Cougars' lead.
The Panthers had no luck from three-point range, connecting on just 3-of-22
long-range attempts.
