Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - Trent Johnson has resigned as head coach of LSU's men's basketball team to take another head coaching position.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva did not disclose where Johnson is headed, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram indicated on Sunday Johnson will take over at TCU.

TCU has scheduled a press conference for "a major announcement involving the men's basketball program" on Monday afternoon. The Horned Frogs have been in search of a head coach since Jim Christian left for Ohio University.

Johnson came to Baton Rouge in 2008 after a four-year run at Stanford. He led the Tigers to an SEC title in 2008-09 and a 67-64 record overall. LSU went 18-15 this past season and lost in the first round of the NIT.

"Sometimes coaching changes work out well for all parties involved, and we will take this opportunity to seek out the best coach for the long-term future of LSU men's basketball," said Alleva. "I wish Trent all the best in his new job."
