PITTSFORD, NY- Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus missed practice for the second straight day Sunday. Dareus, according to head coach Sean McDermott, "tweaked a hamstring" late in practice Friday. The Bills have practice for four days, Dareus has missed two full sessions.
While Dareus struggles with the injury rookie Tre'Davious White is off to a strong start.
"You know, when you draft a guy in the first round, you’re hoping that he can come in and really give you something that first year, which would be ideal," Defensive coordinator Leslis Frazier said Sunday morning before practice. "He has been very, very impressive, going all the way back to the early part of the offseason program and right through to the early part of training camp as well." White had a rough day Saturday but rebounded with another strong day Sunday.
"We’re excited about what we’re seeing and there’s a lot more football to be played, but for a rookie, he’s done a really good job up to this point."
White said competing against Sammy Watkins in practice is a great way to get ready for whatever is thrown at him once the regular season starts.
"It’s getting me ready for Sundays," White said. "To have one of the best receivers to play the game in the NFL on my team, I’m able to go against him every day – it’s definitely a plus for me because he’ll pretty much get me ready for what any receiver is going to do on any given Sunday. That’s definitely a plus for me to have him to practice against every day so I’ll be ready when Sunday rolls around."
The Bills are off Monday and return to the practice field Tuesday morning at 8:45.
