Stroman named Opening Day starter for Bisons

(bisons.com) - Buffalo Bisons manager Gary Allenson has named RHP MARCUS STROMAN as his Opening Day starting pitcher as the Herd hosts the Rochester Red Wings on Thursday, April 3 at Coca-Cola Field (2:05 p.m.).

Stroman, 22, is in his third professional season after being selected by the Blue Jays in the 1st round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. Last year, he went 9-5 with a 3.30 ERA in 20 games for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He struck out 129 batters in only 111.2 innings of work and tied the Fisher Cats single-game strikeout record by recording 13 punchouts on two occasions (July 2 and July 31).

Stroman is ranked the #2 prospect in Toronto's organization by Baseball America. He was the first ever 1st round pick in the history of Duke University
