IronPigs Beat Bisons 2-1

( difference in Saturday's contest between the Bisons and IronPigs came off of one swing of the bat late in the game.

In a game that didn't have much offense, Jim Murphy's solo home run in the ninth off Bobby Korecky gave Lehigh Valley a 2-1 win over Buffalo in the series opener at Coca-Cola Field.

Murphy's homer, his sixth of the season, was one of just five hits given up by Herd pitching on the day. The blast to left field not only broke 1-1 tie, but also handed Korecky his first run allowed in 27.0 innings this season.

Liam Hendriks pitched his fifth quality start of the season for the Herd. He allowed four hits in seven innings of work and struck out three. The only run scored against the Bisons righty was on a Steve Susdorf RBI-single in the fourth.

Buffalo's lone tally came on Mike Nickeas' solo home run in the eighth inning. The Herd, however, drew eight walk in the game and left 13 men on base.

"We're just a little snake bit right now," Bisons manager Gary Allenson said. "We had base runners from walks and a hit batter. We're just a hit away."

The Bisons have now scored just six runs in the last four games. With the loss, the Bisons drop to third in the IL North league standings, a half-game behind Lehigh Valley.
