Blue Jays All-Star Edwin Encarnacion to join Bisons

(Buffalo Bisons)-The Toronto Blue Jays Monday announced that two-time American League All-Star INF Edwin Encarnacion is scheduled to join the Bisons as part of an MLB injury rehabilitation assignment.

The Bisons host the Norfolk Tides Tuesday at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.) for Polish Festival Night with post game pyrotechnics.

Tuesday's game is also a Bisons 'TWOSday.' Tickets are two for the price of one with any Firehouse Subs receipt at the Coca-Cola Field Box Office.

Encarnacion has been on the Blue Jays disabled list since July 7 with a strained right quadriceps. He began his rehab on Saturday for Single-A Dunedin and went 1-3. In 88 games with the Blue Jays this season, the slugger has hit .277 (92-328) with 21 doubles, 26 home runs and 70 RBI. His home run total is tied for 4th most in the American League even though he hasn't played since July 5. He homered 16 times in 30 games in May, setting the Blue Jays franchise record for home runs in any month.

Encarnacion is a veteran of 1,167 Major League games, including 653 with the Blue Jays. He has 221 career big league home runs with 42 homers coming for Toronto in 2012.
