AHL Rochester Americans to host outdoor game

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The Rochester Americans are heading outdoors for one game next season.

The Buffalo Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate announced Thursday that it will host to a regular-season outdoor game in December against a yet-to-be determined opponent. The game will be played at Frontier Field, home of Triple-A baseball's Rochester Red Wings.

The game will be part of a 10-day outdoor hockey festival at the stadium, which will also include a college hockey double-header featuring both Rochester Institute of Technology men's and women's teams. Former Sabres and Americans players will skate in an alumni game, and the temporary rink will also host local high school games.

Game dates have not yet been set for the festival, which will run from Dec. 13-22.
