BUFFALO, N.Y.-Sacred Heart's tough defense paved the way for the Sharks on Friday Night, en route to a 53-32 victory over Cardinal O'Hara to win their 4th straight Monsignor Martin Championship.
The Sharks led by 6 at half, but opened the flood gates in the second half with a barrage of three pointers and exceptional team defense. " They played very hard, we came out in the third quarter, La'Trice played out of her mind, she rebounded hard and played great defense" said Sacred Heart Assistant Coach Debbie Laux. Senior Forward # 24 La'Trice Hall led all scorers with 18 points, and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Sharks. Senior guard # 15 Kelly Farrell contributed 13 points in the win.
Cardinal O'Hara fought the best they could, but were outmatched by the stronger and more aggressive Sacred Heart team. Junior Guard # 2 Keyonte Edwards had a team high 11 points for the Lady Hawks on Friday night.
This victory marks Sacred Hearts 4th straight Monsignor Martin Championship, an outstanding accomplishment for their program. " It's great, this is probably one of the better ones, four of these kids played as freshman when we won the first time" said Assistant Coach Laux, including seniors Hall and Kelly Farrell who had 13 points in the win.
After this victory the Sharks improve to 25-2 on the season. Sacred Heart knows their work is not done, the Sharks will move on to the State Playoffs next week.
