WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.-Kenmore West and Williamsville North battled it out Friday night in the Class AA Sectional Quarterfinals on the Spartan's home court. The Blue Devils escaped with a 56-53 victory, and move on to the Semifinals at Buffalo State for the first time in school history.
Kenmore West was able to get a 14 point lead on the Spartans, but Junior # 10 Sterling Taplan scored a game high 25 points, and had 16 in the fourth quarter to bring the game back within 1 point for Williamsville North. Taplan's performance in the fourth quarter wasn't enough to give the Spartans the win, as the Blue Devils finished the game and won by 3.
Kenmore West was fueled by Junior # 2 Alex Price's team high 21 points, and Freshman # 11 Terrell Ford's 17 points. Ford and Price combined for 8 three pointers.
Kenmore West Head Coach Michael Meetze said " We played our game plan very well, our goal was to take out Sterling, and we survived down the stretch. We're excited, we've never been to Buffalo State".
The Blue Devils improve to 14-6 on the season and survive to play another day. Kenmore will play Niagara Falls Thursday night at Buffalo State. Niagara Falls has won both of the previous match ups between these two teams this season.
