TONAWANDA, N.Y.-Monday was a special night for Cardinal O'Hara senior Leah McDonell as she became the school's all time leading scorer.

McDonell scored only eight points all night in the Lady Hawks 68-26 win over Mt. Mercy. However, she scored the first basket of the game and that pushed into the school's top spot.

McDonell surpasses Melissa Kanalley who finished her career in 2006. With the eight points McDonell now has 1362 for her career. She is fifth all time on the Monsignor Martin list of top scorers on the girls side.

O'Hara head coach Dan McDermott told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "Leah and the other girls who came in four years ago started O'Hara on the upswing. She's the leader of the pack in terms of O'Hara basketball back and putting us on the  map. She is the consummate student athlete that every coach would love to have on their team. I am blessed to have coached her for these four years."

O'Hara is 10-overall and 5-0 in league play.
