KENMORE, N.Y.-At Kenmore East Friday night Kenmore West beat the Bulldogs 64-47. The Blue Devils broke the game open in the third quarter with a 20-to-1 run.
For the Blue Devils the big man, Quinton Campbell # 32 had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. 12 of his 20 points came on three point shots. # 22 Noah Whalen had 14 points for West including drilling a long range three pointer shortly before halftime. For East # 2 Pat Schroeder was the high scorer with 13 points.
With the win the Blue Devils improve to 7-3 and 5-1 in league play. Their only loss in the league was at Niagara Falls earlier this week. Its the second time this season they've beaten their cross town rivals from Kenmore East.
Blue Devils head coach Mike Meetze told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "I liked the third quarter. We didn't play very well in the first half. When we went on that 20-1 run in the third quarter it was our defense that really got the tempo going and we got a lot of fast break layups."
The first half took an hour to play because there were so many whistles for fouls. Meetze told Stu "its a rivalry game. Its East vs. West. Throw out the records. It was an interesting first half to say the least. That's what you like about a rivalry game. Second half it toned down and we actually played some basketball."
Kenmore West is at Niagara Wheatfield Tuesday night.
