KENMORE, N.Y.-Last year was a tough one for the Kenmore West Blue Devils hockey team. They didn't win a game all season. The best they could do was tie. Its a different story this year.
Despite a three game losing streak that has dropped them under 500 .Kenmore West is light years ahead of where they were a year ago when they didn't win a game the entire season.
Senior defenseman Tom Ryan tells Two On Your Side "we were a young team definitely the experience helps out a lot this year and coach Knight is doing a good job in selling a good work ethic in us and its really show in the beginning part of the season." Junior defenseman Chris Selak added "Our team is more well rounded. We work harder instead of like last year.
Last year the Blue Devils played without double digit seniors who graduated the year before. The Blue Devils have already won five games this season and are in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Junior goalie Sean Guetti said "we struggled last season. We didn't get a win at all last season but we're coming out hard this year and it looks like we're going to finish this season strong." Head coach Tim Knight said " it's a game of confidence so we're starting to gain some confidence in ourselves. They're actually starting to do some fo the things we're working on in practice in the games which is nice to see."
For the Blue Devils and their fans its nice to see a competitive team. Kenmore West returns to action Monday night 5:30 against West Seneca East at the West Seneca town rink.
