Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is
expected to attend Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond
International Raceway.
According to a schedule release from his campaign on Friday, Romney is
planning to appear at the racetrack, where he will participate in pre-race
activities. He is scheduled to be in the Commonwealth of Virginia throughout
Saturday, beginning with a campaign rally in Virginia Beach.
In February, Romney appeared at Daytona International Speedway for the season-
opening Daytona 500. The race, however, was postponed one day due to rain.
Richmond is the regular-season-ending race in NASCAR's top series, with the
full 12-driver field for the championship Chase to be determined. The Chase
begins on Sept. 16 at Chicagoland Speedway.
