ARCADE, N.Y. - New York State Police are investigating a report of a man who posed as a police officer and pulled a woman over.
The suspicious traffic stop happened on Tuesday on State Route 98, just north of the Village of Arcade.
The woman told Troopers the man was driving a navy blue four door sedan with some sort of police insignia on the side and blue lights in the windshield.
The suspect is described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, about 6' tall, medium build, with blond hair. He was wearing a plain blue uniform, duty belt with a gold shield and baton. He didn't have a holster or gun.
Anyone with any information is asked to call State Police in Batavia at (585) 786-2299 or SP Clarence at (716) 759-6831.
Troopers advise anyone who believes they are being stopped by anyone other than a police officer to call 911 or drive to the nearest police station.
