BUFFALO, N.Y. -- There are more than 53,000 veterans in Erie County. Now there's a program to honor their service and sacrifice. It's called "Thank-a-Vet."
The program offers discounts to veterans at more than 300 businesses in Erie County To enroll, a veteran must bring their military discharge forms to the County Clerk's office. They are then given a discount card free of charge.
County Clerk Chris Jacobs says it's not only a way to say thank you, but it ensures each veteran's papers are safe. He says more than 2,000 cards have been issued.
