AMHERST, NY - The University of Buffalo Friday announced its schedule for the 26th annual Distinguished Speakers Series.
Laura Bush, wife of former President George W. Bush and a passionate supporter of children's education, human rights and health-care initiatives, leads a diverse list of those who will visit the Amherst campus during the upcoming academic year. Mrs. Bush will speak at Alumni Arena on October 10th.
Others sharing their wisdom and insight include conservative political commentator David Brooks, social entrepreneur Blake Mycoskie, bestselling novelist and social commentator Walter Mosley, comedian Steve Martin, and world-renowned cognitive scientist and author Steven Pinker.
"The series not only offers a lecture platform, but an opportunity for audience interaction with speakers through the question and answer period that follows each talk," said Dennis Black, UB vice president for university life and services. "This year it will reflect what UB is all about: citizenship, service, diversity, discovery and a little bit of fun."
Black continued: "In bringing leading voices in key areas of concern and opportunity to our community for our collective consideration, the series serves its original intentions well."
