ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. - Exactly one year after he was critically injured in a snowboarding accident, Nick Ventura, 14, returned to Holimont to hit the slopes and show everyone how far he has come in his recovery.
Ventura, a Cleveland native, fell and hit a tree last year while snowboarding. Although he was wearing a helmet, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. He had to learn to walk and talk again.
As if those goals weren't tough enough, Ventura also aimed to snowboard again.
Ventura, his family and friends are spending the weekend at Holimont to celebrate Nick's progress.
Ventura was joined by the Holimont ski patrol, who went down the hill by his side.
