SHELDON, NY-- A 16-year-old teen from Strykersville is in surgery after he was shot in a hunting accident.
Wyoming County Sheriff's Department says they were called to Perry Road in the Town of Sheldon just after noon Friday for a person shot.
Investigators say three friends were coyote hunting when a rifle was accidentally discharged, hitting the teen who was sitting in a tree.
The teen was shot in the side by his lower back. He was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC.
No names are being released at the time, but the Sheriff officials say the shooter is a 17-year-old teen.
