LANCASTER, NY--  Lots of people who live in Lancaster want to know the answer to a question we received in an e-mail today.

One resident says, "I would like some answers on the construction on William Street from Transit to Lake.  They have made a huge mess of the road, even causing me to get a flat tire a few weeks ago.  When are they going to fix it?"

The answer, according to Lancaster Supervisor Robert Giza, is that crews are busy replacing a main water line which happens to run under the road.  The mess has to do with temporary patching once the pipes are replaced.

2 On Your Side found crews out patching Monday, but the Supervisor admits, it hasn't always been smooth sailing.

"They patched as they were told to do and they did it, but I think the volume of traffic took a toll on the patch they were using," says Giza.

Giza adds he has gotten a number of complaints, however having a water line under the road is more unusual.  The county will be resurfacing the road once the water lines are complete, which should be by the beginning of October.
