LANCASTER, NY-- A caller to our 2 On Your Side Tipline recently contacted us about his problem with frequent power outages at his home on Enchanted Forest North in the town of Lancaster.
Chris says the outages have occurred almost once a week and sometimes more over the past several months in his neighborhood behind the Foreststream complex off Transit Road near Clinton Street.
Chris says he contacted NYSEG and was told someone would get back to him but he says they never did. He also has never seen NYSEG crews checking his neighborhood after his calls. So he contacted us to see if we could look into the situation.
We first contacted Lancaster Supervisor Robert Giza who placed calls to NYSEG.
2 On Your Side also contacted NYSEG spokesman Dick Marion who called us back with an explanation.
Marion says the problem was traced to a "circuit re-loader" which is used to handle power fluctuations. He says adjustments have been made to that device and it will be closely monitored to make sure there are no further problems.
Chris says there have no outages in the past week. He also points out that a NYSEG staffer did contact him with an explanation.
