BUFFALO, N.Y - On the 204th birthday of the 16th President, we reflect on the lasting legacy left by Abraham Lincoln here in Western New York.

There are the well-known stories, such as Lincoln's inaugural visit, and the letter from little Grace Bedell of Westfield urging him to grow a beard.

But did you know that the tradition of celebrating Lincoln's birthday as a holiday began with a Queen City druggist? Or that the Outer Harbor breakwall was a gift from the Great Emancipator?
