Hamburg, N.Y. - Students from dozens of schools in the area have signed the Pledge 2 Hang Up.
That includes Immaculata Academy in Hamburg.
Friday, students gathered in the gym to show off their pledge sheets and tell us why they made the promise to hang up!
"So many people have paid serious consequences for what happened when they were texting and driving, that's really not a good idea," says Immaculata Academy Senior Korleen Brady.
"My parents have been stressing about it a lot because of me and my brother," says Cassie Pawlowski, student at Immaculata Academy. "My brother got in an accident, but he wasnt driving. I think it's important so nothing happens, like he almost got hurt."
"It's not only texting, it's talking on the phone," says Amber Penna, another student at Immaculata Academy. "I know I dont have texting, but I have talked on the phone before and it is very dangerous."
