Olean Police Looking for Man Trying to Lure Girls

OLEAN, N.Y. - Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly tried to lure teen girls and young women into his car earlier this week.

Olean Police Captain Robert Blovsky told 2 On Your Side there have been five separate reports of a man driving around the city in a red or maroon SUV and approaching females.

The girls told police the man asked them of a good place to eat and then tried to get them into his vehicle. They declined and walked away. One girl told police she encountered the man a second time.

The first incident that was reported to police happened around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. There was another on Monday. At least one of the interactions happened near the high school. That prompted police to notify the school district which in turn sent out a robo call notifying parents of the incidents and providing a description.

They described the suspect as a white male in his mid to late 30s. They say he was either bald or had very little hair and possibly had blue eyes. The vehicle is a newer model SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango or Ford Explorer with temporary Ohio license plates.

Anyone with information should call Olean Police at 376-5678.
