Millport Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing Union Funds

Mary Hartsock, age 49, of Millport, New York, pled guilty Monday to stealing labor union funds in front of U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer, U.S. Attorney Terrance P. Flynn of the Western District of New York announced today. This violation carries a maximum of 5 years imprisonment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Resnick, who handled the case, stated that the Laborers Local Union #1358 had a collective bargaining agreement with Construction Trades Employers, Inc. of South Central New York, which includes Streeter Associates, Inc. Hartsock was office manager of the Local #1358 from 1980 to January 2007. From January 2002 to January 2007, Hartsock converted union funds to her own use by not depositing nor reporting member payments. The plea was the culmination of an investigation on the part of Investigators of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards, under the direction of Joseph S. Wasik.
