ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Having a hard time juggling credit card debt?
If so, the state Consumer Protection Board wants to hear from you. The agency is asking consumers to share their credit card "horror stories" in an online survey. It's at NYS Consumer.gov(www.nysconsumer.gov)
CPB director Mindy Bockstein says juggling credit cards and excessive debt is typical for most American households. She said the juggling act is made more difficult by anti-consumer practices in the credit card industry. For instance, credit-card issuers frequently change the terms and interest rates without adequate notice to customers. Consumers must also contend with hidden fees or conditions they don't understand.
In recent months, the CPB has been pressing officials in Washington and the credit-card industry to change these anti-consumer practices.
