An Amherst yard is a little bare today, thanks to thieves targetting lawn ornaments.
The suspects stole eight statues in al, five of them gnomes, the other three frogs, from a house on North Bailey.
The homeowner is hoping the robbery is really a kidnapping and her statues will be returned.
"It just breaks your heart that people can actually come to your yard when you take care of your yard and people can absolutely come up and steal what isn't theirs," says Mary Ann Szarwan, had your gnomes stolen.
Police will not say whether this theft is connected to a spree of gnome robberies in Amherst last summer.
Last June, about 30 stolen garden gnomes were found on top of a business on Sheridan Drive arranged in a circle. They were found with a note reading "gnomes were born free and should live free".
