A former Burger King worker who was severely burned when a grease machine exploded has agreed to a four million dollar settlement of her lawsuit against the fast-food chain.
Brittany Krollman was a teenager working the hamburger line at a Burger King in West Seneca in June 1997 when a defective grease filter machine exploded and sprayed her with 350-degree cooking oil.
Her attorneys say an aerosol can had fallen into the device, which led to the explosion. The lawyers say Krollman underwent five surgical procedures and was left with permanent scars.
Krollman sued Miami-based Burger King and two other companies. The settlement came as the case was about to go to trial.
Now a 24-year-old graduate student is scheduled to receive her full settlement within 90 days.
