One Thousand People Show Up For Jobs at Seneca Niagara Casino

The state of the economy in Western New York was encapsulated in one scene at Seneca Niagara Casino this week.

A line of people out the door looking for work.

The casino has 300 jobs to fill, and more than three times that many people showed up for interviews.

Although most of the jobs were entry-level, things like cashiers and cooks, sales and marketing postions, the casino is offering two big perks: full benefits and the opportunity to advance into better-paying positions.

One of those looking for work was Amy Thiebeaux of Kenmore. She's a college graduate who recently lost her job. She was applying for a marketing position.

"I've got applications in all over town," she said. "At the Bon Ton, 97 Rock, the job market in Buffalo is just horrible."

Amy thought her interview went well. She could find out whether she's got the job in about a week.
