Funeral Planned for Woman Who Died in Sweat Lodge

OTISVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- A funeral service is planned this morning
for a 38-year-old Orange County woman who died at a sweat lodge ceremony in Arizona.

Kirby Brown, formerly of Westtown, and 40-year-old James Shore
of Milwaukee died last week during a ceremony led by self-help
expert James Arthur Ray. The deaths are being investigated as
homicides.

Brown was the oldest of the four children of George and Virginia
Brown of Westtown, 56 miles northwest of New York City. She
graduated from Minisink High School in 1989 and SUNY Geneseo in 1993. Over the years, she managed horse farms, drove limousines in Manhattan, worked in restaurants and operated a painting company out of Baja, Mexico.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Name of
Jesus Church in Otisville.
