BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Rochester woman is facing weapons charges after she brought a loaded gun to the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport on Wednesday, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
The woman did not have a ticket for a flight, but did have a gate pass so she could escort her grandchildren to their gate.
As the group began the checkpoint screen process, a TSA officer spotted a .22 caliber handgun in the woman's purse while looking at the checkpoint x-ray machine. The gun was loaded with nine bullets, including one in the chamber, according to TSA.
The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police confiscated the gun. The woman, whose name was not released, was cited for on local weapons charges.
