Two Erie County Sheriff's Deputies are locked up and facing felony charges. The two deputies were assigned to the jail management unit of the Sheriff's office, were arrested this Saturday afternoon on charges that they tried to smuggle contraband or prohibited items into county jails.

49 year old Deputy Charles Hunt was taken into custody at the Erie County Holding Center. He now faces the felony charge of possessing dangerous contraband in prison along with a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.

A short time later at the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden, 33 year old Deputy Eric Stevens was also arrested as he finished his shift and charged with bringing contraband into the prison. Investigator from the Sheriff's Narcotics Unit handled these separate cases that are said to be unrelated.
