Semi and School Bus Collide in Concord; No Kids On Bus

CONCORD, NY - A bus driver was taken to ECMC after a tractor-trailer and school bus collided in the Town of Concord Wednesday morning. Fortunately, there were no children on the bus at the time.

The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Genesee Road and Springville-Boston Road.

According to the Erie County Sheriff's office, David Barry, 26, of Denton, Md. failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. He then crashed into a school bus driven by Marlene Golabek, 56, of the Village of Springville.

Golabek was taken to ECMC via Mercy Flight, where the sheriff's office says she's in stable condition.

Barry sustained no injuries and police say he has been cooperative. He has been cited for failure to obey a stop sign, failure to yield to the right of way and a log book violation.

The bus was from the Springville/Griffith school district. Officials say 12 students were just dropped off before the accident.

The DEC and Haz-Mat crews were called to the scene to deal with a diesel fuel spill resulting from the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
