Batavia Police Arrest Two Burglary Suspects After Search

BATAVIA, N.Y.- Batavia police arrested two Burglary suspects Tuesday after a major search effort that involved a state police helicopter and a K9 unit.

According to police two men, who were later identified as Nathaniel Davis, 18, and Akeem Simmons, 23, entered the rear door of 28 Park Ave in Batavia when a neighbor heard a crashing noise.

Police say the two suspects fled the scene, one heading to the east and the other to the west.

According to police Davis was found 100 yards from the burglarized house with possession of a loaded handgun.

Police say they were confident Simmons had not escaped the established perimeter and a state police helicopter and off duty K-9 officer were soon on the scene.

According to police the K-9 unit found Simmons at 48 Ellicott Avenue where he continued to try and evade police officers before eventually being taken into custody.

Both men may possibly be charged with the class B felony of burglary 1st.
