Whiskey 7 WWII plane returns back home after D-Day event

GENESEO, NY - A veteran of WWII which took part in the stirring D-Day anniversary just last week is now safely back home and on the ground here in Western New York.

Whiskey 7 -- the venerable C-47 cargo plane which actually carried paratroopers into battle in Normandy back on June 6th, 1944 -- landed Saturday at its home base, the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, Livingston County.

A crowd was on hand to welcome the plane and its crew home after their trans-Atlantic flights and their widely publicized role flying one of the few remaining aircraft of that period.

The plane will now be on display at the museum which is located just outside the village of Geneseo, off Interstate 390 south of Rochester.
