ROCHESTER, NY-Wegmans Food Markets has voluntarily recalled one of its ravioli products over concerns that it may contain pieces of white plastic.
The Gates-based grocery store chain has recalled 9-ounce packages of Wegmans Italian Classics Ricotta & Spinach Striped Jumbo Ravioli (UPC # 0-77890-38934) sold between August 2 and 30.
Only product labeled with a use or freeze by date of Sept. 16, 2016 is included in the recall. Wegmans planned to place automated phone calls to customers who bought the ravioli using their Shoppers Club card.
Wegmans said roughly 1,640 total packages of the ravioli were sold by the grocer in its stores. The remaining product involved in the recall has already been pulled from stores.
O' Sole Mio of Quebec, Canada, makes the ravioli, which is packaged in a plastic tray and sold in a refrigerated case in Wegmans' dairy department.
Wegmans said there have been no reported injuries associated with the product recall, initiated after customers reportedly found white plastic pieces. The recall was first posted on September 2.
Those who purchased the ravioli can return it to a Wegmans service desk for a full refund.
