Daybreak's Pete Gallivan uncovers the Unknown Story of WNY about sea serpents in our regions bodies of water.

BUFFALO, NY - As we continue our look at Unknown Stories of WNY: Monsters, Myths & Legends, in part 2 we dive into the murky depths. No matter what the body of water, from the Erie Canal to Lake Erie, there are reports of sea creature sightings. Some of them are serpent-like creatures, others prehistoric-looking, but all of them mysterious.

One such story revolves around a small pond or lake in Genesee County. it has gone by a few names, most often, Spirit Lake. Native folklore tells the tale of a fire-breathing serpent which will emerge and kill if a sacred tobacco ceremony is not performed each year.

The stories are seemingly endless, are they real? Figments of the imagination? Possibly shape-shifting beings? Whatever they are, they are current residents of the Unknown Stories of WNY.
