BUFFALO, N.Y.-- The Anchor Bar, “The Home of the Original Chicken Wing,” announced Tuesday that two new franchises are joining the Anchor Bar family in Toronto, Ont., and Richmond, Va.
The new Ontario location will feature more than 300 seats, numerous 65-inch TVs for sporting events and an outdoor patio. This is the Anchor Bar’s third Ontario franchise and will feature a full slate of Anchor Bar menu items, including wings, pizza, burgers, salads, etc.
“It has been such a pleasure being a part of the Anchor Bar family over the past several years,” Burlington, Ont. Anchor Bar Franchisee Owner David Copperthwaite, said. “We’re excited to expand our relationship with the brand and extend Anchor Bar’s reach across the Southern Ontario market.”
The newest franchise in Richmond will be the first Anchor Bar location in the Southeast. The restaurant is slated to open its doors this coming winter.
Franchisee Owner David Allred, a Richmond native, said, “I’ve been wanting to open a restaurant for some time, so when I heard about an opportunity with Anchor Bar, I jumped at the chance. There just isn’t anything else like it in Richmond, and I think the people here will enjoy the unique flavors you can only find at the Home of the Original Chicken Wing.”
The Original Anchor Bar, located on Main Street in downtown Buffalo, first opened its doors in 1935 and invented the chicken wing in 1964. The Anchor Bar Franchise & Development Company opened its first franchise location in 2009 at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Today, the company has grown to nine franchise locations, including three in Ontario, Canada (Burlington, Hamilton and Toronto), one at Darien Lake Theme Park in Darien, N.Y., one in Williamsville, N.Y., one in Amherst, N.Y., and its soon-to-be location in Richmond, Va.
