Tonawanda conference focuses on coal plant

TONAWANDA, NY - Just this past week President Obama announced new emissions standards for coal power plants.

One of the plants that would be affected is the NRG Huntley facility in Tonawanda. Huntley is the last coal-burning power plant in Erie County. It's losing an average a million dollars a year and is at risk of closing.

The Clean Air Coalition met Saturday night to talk about ideas to transition away from coal.

If the plant were to close about 70 people could lose their jobs and Tonawanda could lose $16 million in tax revenue.
