Budwey's final store changing hands

Budwey's Sells To "Market In The Square"

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y.--  A long-time community grocery store is changing hands.

Frank Budwey of Budwey's Supermarket says he's selling his final store in North Tonawanda to the owners of West Seneca's Market in the Square.

Budwey's has been operating in Western New York for decades.

Frank Budwey says this move is bittersweet, but he's happy he's found the right owner to continue his family's legacy. He added, "My main goal was to keep this store alive for many years to come. Over the years, over the last three to four years, I've had offers and that, but never did I feel that the store was going to be able to survive under that ownership, and finally I came up with the right owner."

The Kusmierski family plans to have the new "Budwey's Market in the Square" open by October.
