Benefit held for family of Molly's Pub victim Bill Sager

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. - William Sager's family and friends held a benefit Sunday, as planned, despite his death on Thursday.

The National Guardsman died from the injuries he suffered after he was pushed down the stairs in May at the now-closed Molly's Pub on Main Street in Buffalo.

Last week, Jeffrey Basil was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident, but the charges could be upgraded because of Sager's death.

The benefit was at the Grand Island VFW.

Calling hours for Sager are Monday, August 4th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at John J. Kaczor Funeral Home, 5453 Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg.

A private service and burial will be held on Tuesday. Sager will be buried with full military honors.
