BUFFALO, NY -- A Town of Tonawanda man is facing charges in connection with the overdose death of a female companion.
The Erie County District Attorney's office says Jon Herrle, 55, allegedly gave the woman, who they say was extremely intoxicated at the time, crushed up opiate pills, telling her it was cocaine. The woman snorted the powder, overdosed and died. The incident took place back in September, 2016.
Herrle was arraigned Friday before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
If convicted off all of the charges, he faces a maximum of 15 years in jail.
