ELMA, N.Y. -- A suspect allegedly pepper sprayed victims and stole a car Sunday in the Town of Elma, Erie County Sheriff officials say.
Deputies responded to the incident at about 6:30 p.m.
When a deputy arrived on the scene, he said he was met by a man who showed signs of being hit with pepper spray, including being covered with an orange tint, having a swollen face and being short of breath.
The man described the attack and said a woman in the residence was also a victim.
According to the press release, the victim told police Raymond Skibicki, 24, of Elma somehow entered the home and sprayed the victims. Skibicki then allegedly took the male victim's wallet, cell phone, and his car keys.
Police say Skibicki then took off in the victim's car.
Deputies followed a trail of fresh tire marks leading away from the home to a cliff behind the home. They found the stolen vehicle, but not the subject.
After a deputy was able to make contact with Skibicki, he turned himself in at about 8 p.m. Sunday. He was charged with grand larceny of credit cards, causing physical injury, grand larceny of auto, and the misdemeanor counts of assault, unlawful possession of a noxious matter and finally petit larceny.
Skibicki is being held at the Erie County Holding Center until an arraignment Monday in the Elma Town Court.
