BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson is preparing for his third season in Buffalo. The young receiver made an impact during his rookie season with the Bills catching ten passes and two touchdowns.
With the addition of Terrell Owens last season, Johnson slid down the depth chart and only caught two passes in five games.
This with Owens gone, Johnson has a chance to make a big impact on the roster this season. During offseason workouts Johnson was given reps to be the Bills number two receiver opposite Lee Evans.
Off the field there is another side to Steve Johnson. Johnson is a talented rap artist and goes by the name Stevie Styles.
Johnson grew up near San Francisco, California and has several family members in the music industry. "As a youngster my step-dad he was basically the man in San Francisco California, he's a produces so I've always been around music. My cousins did music, my sister did music so I was always around it.''
Johnson began rapping in high school and continue to work on his skills during college at Kentucky. In his senior season with the Wildcats a teammate urged Johnson to preform one of his raps in the lockerroom before a big game. "So right before the game coach was talking and he's nudging me, Steve, say that rap, so I end up getting up and saying the rap. I didn't know there was cameras and they put the thing on YouTube and there's 500,000 hits.''

Johnson has continued writing and recording tracks during his NFL career. Recently he has worked with his Bills teammate Ashton Youboty who owns the production and entertainment company Broken Chainz. The two Bills teammates have recorded several songs in the last year.
Johnson admits his primary focus is his football career, but his interest in music provides him an escape. "I can put my mind out on a pad, just to clear my mind of everything that's going on because the NFL is hectic.''
Johnson has also written and recorded tracks about some of his Bills teammates, like safety Jairus Byrd.

When asked if he wanted to preform in the Bills lockerroom before a game on Sunday Johnson said, "A few guys have said you got to do something for this season but I feel like I need to establish myself a little bit more.''
Johnson will get his shot during training camp this month.
